Online Gentle Density Training
Triplexes, fourplexes, laneway homes, and multiplexes are the fastest growing housing type in BC. Small Housing Academy is BC specific training that helps you go from single family builder to gentle density builder, using the skills you already have.

Same trade. New project type. Bigger impact.
Since 2024, most BC lots allow three to four units without rezoning, and up to six near transit. The fundamentals of single family work carry into gentle density. What changes is the planning, the regulatory path, and the coordination across more units.
Each course is organized by role, with BC specific guidance for builders, officials, designers, and mechanical contractors.

Why Small Housing BC
A nonprofit built around making gentle density actually happen
Small Housing is a BC-based nonprofit focused on bringing “gentle density housing” into established single-family neighbourhoods across the province. Through advocacy, research, and education, we’re tackling one of BC’s biggest barriers to affordability: a building sector that needs the skills to build differently.
Small Housing Academy courses are subsidized to keep professional, BC-specific training accessible to the builders, developers, designers, officials, and contractors British Columbia is counting on.
